西山坐落在滇池的西岸，又稱碧雞山，元代為“滇南八景”之首。明代居“云南四大名山”之冠。“滇陽六景”中被譽為“碧雞秋色”；清代“昆明八景”中“滇池夜月”即滇池西山夜月；而在當代又是“昆明十六景”之“睡美人山，龍門飛峙”。遠眺西山群峰，既像一尊龐大的睡佛，又似一個美麗曲腿仰臥在滇池畔，象青絲垂海的睡美人。因此西山稱為“臥佛山”，又稱為“睡美人山”。 西山華亭寺、太華寺、三清閣、聶耳墓、玉蘭園掩映茂林修竹深處，龍門石窟嵌綴千仞峭壁之上，千畝小石林攢列羅漢山飛云奇秀飛巔，氣勢磅礴的湖光山色，豐富厚重的千年歷史文化，使西山獨具神秘的魅力，吸引著中外的游客。 西山，昆明“金碧湖山”的象征，雄、險、奇、秀、美盡在西山！
Xishan Mountain locates on the western shore of Dianchi Lake, it’s also known as “Jade Cock Mountain”. It had been ranked the first place among “Eight Sights of Southern Yunnan” during Yuan Dynasty. In Ming Dynasty, Xishan had been ranked the first place among “Four Famous Mountains of Yunnan”. A poem titled “Jade Cock in Autumn” from had been written to honor Xishan Mountain. “Eight Sights of Kunming” in Qing Dynasty mentioned “Moon Night of Dianchi” actually refers to Moon Night of Xishan Mountain. In nowadays Xishan Mountain and Dragon Archway are both ranked among “Sixteen Sights of Kunming”. Being seen from long distance Xishan Mountain reminds tourists a image of a giant lying Buddha, or a image of a sleeping beauty beside Dianchi Lake. Huating Temple, Taihua Temple, Sanqing Temple, Nie’Er Cemetery, and Magnolia Garden sit among Forests on Xishan Mountain. Dragon Archway Grottoes and Little Stone Forest hide among cliffs and trees, along with the majestic scenery of lake and mountain, as well as the rich and profound history and culture in thousands of years, make Xishan Mountain obtaining unique and mysterious charm, attracting tourists from home and abroad.
